Runtime: 57 min - Click here to view webinar.

Date: Monday, June 19, 2017
Time: 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM EDT

Presenter: Tim Lieuwen, Turbine Logic
Project Team Leader: Hemanth Satish, TransCanada
PRCI Project Manager: Gary Choquette

Tim Lieuwen of Turbine Logic will be presenting information on PRCI project CPS-5-9 “Effect of Variability in Fuel on Operation and Reliability of Gas Turbines”. The goal of the research was to outline how significant changes in fuel gas composition impacts gas turbine performance, emissions, and reliability.

The webinar will discuss combustion characteristic changes including blowoff, flashback, and autoignition and how changes in fuel composition can impact those effects. The corresponding impact on CO and NOx emissions will also be discussed. The presentation will cover both diffusion flame and low NOx combustors.

Expected Benefits/Learning Outcomes

After attending this webinar the participants will:

  • Understand the various issues and fuel properties that most strongly impact their turbine emissions and operability limits.
  • Get details on the gas turbine components whose health is impacted by the risks and operability issues associated with fuel composition variability.
  • Comprehend the potential limitations on operational regimes based on emissions and operability concerns.

Who Should Attend?

Pipeline operators of gas turbines that are (or could be) exposed to significant day-to-day changes in the composition of fuel gas including:

  • Field operations personnel
  • Mechanical specialists
  • Facility planners
  • Operations management

The work may be of interest to manufactures of gas turbines and related ancillary equipment.
