This report describes the findings of a study specifically concerned with developing a basis for valve selection that is sufficiently general for use throughout the gas pipeline industry, yet sufficiently specific to assure adequate protection. The study results are intended as guidelines only, and are not intended to preclude the use of other rational selection criteria developed by industry members for their specific pipeline systems.
